Mascot Position

Responsibilities

  • Perform as "Champ" the mascot at Ottawa Champions games, social events and community appearances.
  • Personally interact with Champions fans during games, social events and community appearances.
  • Assist in creating routines for promotional entertainment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be available to work all Ottawa Champions home games.
  • Have the ability to work scheduled community event dates, including those outside of the Ottawa Champions home events if necessary.
  • Must be a motivated individual with the desire to gain experience in a professional sport environment.
  • Have an outgoing and creative personality with a willingness and desire to have fun.
  • Have the ability to entertain without words
  • Have the willingness to represent the Ottawa Champions, and our mission and core values, in a positive manner in and out of the stadium.

Game Operations Intern

Summary

The Ottawa Champions are looking for a qualified Game Operations Intern to assist the Manager of Marketing and Promotions for all 100 Champions games. The intern will work closely with the Manager of Marketing and Promotions as an assistant, while shadowing several different aspects of the department both in the office and during Champions games. This is a full-time position beginning in April and ending in early September with a monthly stipend.

Qualifications

The Champions are seeking a candidate interested in preparing themselves for a career in either marketing or promotions in the sports industry.

  • Applicant must be a full or part-time student currently enrolled in a university or college
  • Interest and knowledge in baseball is required
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Help organize on field and off field logistics for game day.
  • Help construct game day event scripts.
  • Aide in devising new and creative in-game and in-stadium entertainment, including on- field promotions, video pieces, fan interactive elements, mascot skits, pregame & halftime shows, etc.
  • Participate in the logistics of non-game related events i.e., season ticket holder events, fan festivals, community events, Training Camp, etc.
  • Aide to conceptualize and develop the promotional calendar which includes special events, theme nights and giveaways in conjunction with marketing, ticket sales, corporate partnerships and community relations.
  • Interact with all departments to contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and sales campaigns through in stadium promotion.
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.

Communications and Social Media Intern

Summary

The Ottawa Champions are looking for a qualified Communications Intern to assist the Director of Communications for all 100 Champions games. The intern will work closely with media relations staff as an assistant, while shadowing several different aspects of the department both in the office and during Champions games. This is a full-time position beginning in May and ending in early September with a monthly stipend.

Qualifications

The Champions are seeking a candidate interested in preparing themselves for a writing and/or media relations position in the sports industry. 

  • Applicant must be a full or part-time student currently enrolled in a university or college
  • Interest and knowledge in baseball is required
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Contribute writing content to the Champions team website
  • Send twitter play-by-play updates as games transpire
  • Conduct post-game media availability with players and coaches
  • Serve as occasional colour commentator on Champions radio broadcasts
  • Assist with game recaps for majority of Champions road games, occasional home games to send to local media
  • Help maintain an organized and professional press box
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment

Sales Account Manager

Summary

The Account Manager's responsibility is generating revenue through the sale of smaller corporate packages, suites, season tickets, Flex Pack, BBQ and group sales, within the guidelines and standards set out by the team.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the sale of suites, group sales (BBQ), and season packages
  • Initiate aggressive outbound phone activity
  • Establish working relationships and drive revenue with Business and Corporations within the Ottawa and area surroundings
  • Provide Customers with outstanding service in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to the sales team atmosphere in a positive manner by developing mutually beneficial working relationships with all staff members.
  • Represent the Club at local business events, as required.
  • Network and be involved with a number of business associations
  • Recording of all sales pipeline details to provide at meetings
  • Participate and contribute to weekly sales team meetings and training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Business to business outside sales
  • Professional and results oriented with prove track record of exceeding revenue targets
  • Experience in prospecting to new businesses and associations through cold calling and in person visits
  • Experience in leading client diagnostic meetings at client workplaces as well as creating & delivering client proposals in an effort to drive revenue
  • Driven by results and excelling in a competitive environment while also contributing to a team based atmosphere
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills (Written and oral)

Corportate Sales Manager 

Job Duties

  • Develop, build and manage a client base of corporate accounts
  • Oversee the sales process at each stage from quote to purchasing to fulfillment and follow up
  • Target new accounts for new partnerships
  • Work with team to develop and execute corporate sales initiatives
  • Prospect new clients, via sales calls, emailing, personal contacts and networking events
  • Generate weekly sales progress and forecasts
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences and community events to help promote the corporate program
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer service issues 

Requirements

  • Access to a vehicle, valid driver's licence
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision

Work Conditions           

  • Regional travel will be required
  • Working offsite at promotional events, conference and trade shows
